About Balvatika
Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has introduced Balvatika, a preschool education programme, in accordance with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. KVS initiated admissions to Balvatika for the academic session 2024–25.
Initially, KVS Headquarters identified 50 prominent Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) for the introduction of Balvatika. Subsequently, 450 more Kendriya Vidyalayas were identified for the implementation of Balvatika Classes 1, 2 and 3.
The NEP 2020 emphasizes the importance of Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) for children in the foundational stage, particularly those in the age group of 3 to 6 years. In line with this vision, KVS expanded Balvatika education to provide age-appropriate, play-based and child-centred learning experiences to young children.
